ROLE DETAIL

Position Title:

Scaffolder

JOB OBJECTIVE

Scaffolder, also known as a Scaffold Erector or Scaffold Builder, is a skilled tradesperson who specialises in assembling and dismantling scaffolding structures used in construction, maintenance, and renovation projects. They play a crucial role in providing safe access and support for workers, tools, and materials at elevated work sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Erect scaffolding structures, including frames, platforms, and safety rails, according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications, ensuring stability, strength, and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Select and assemble scaffold components, such as tubes, fittings, boards, and couplers, using hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment, to create customised scaffolding systems tailored to specific project requirements.
  • Install and secure scaffolding systems to building structures, foundations, or other support surfaces, using anchoring devices, ties, braces, and guy ropes, to prevent movement, instability, or collapse.
  • Modify scaffolding configurations as required during construction, following changes in building design, site conditions, or project scope, and adapting scaffold layouts to accommodate access requirements and work activities.
  • Inspect scaffolding systems for defects, damage, or wear and tear, conducting routine maintenance checks, repairs, and replacements of scaffold components to ensure structural integrity and safety compliance.
  • Dismantle scaffolding structures safely and efficiently at the end of construction projects or as directed by site supervisors, removing and stacking scaffold components for transport or storage and ensuring site cleanliness and tidiness.
